Hello! My name is Rosemary Shojaie and I am an author-illustrator living in Rochester, NY.
I studied at the University of Rochester and later in England at the Cambridge School of Art, where I received my MA in Children's Book Illustration.
I am inspired and fascinated by the passage of time, childhood memories, chance meetings, the natural world, and the Upstate New York and New England regions. These are some of the many topics I’d like to explore in the picture book format.
My work generally involves a combination of graphite pencil, colored pencil, pastels, and gouache. Recently, I have also been experimenting with linocut and other printmaking techniques.
